Huntersville, NC If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Yes it is in the Target shopping center in a strip mall, but it is a very attractive, small restaurant with great food. We tried it on Wednesday night and were surprised how crowded it was when we left. The secret it out.
I ordered the Gamberi e Vongole (Shimp & Clams) for $18.
Shrimp and little neck clams sautéed with roasted tomatoes in a garlic white wine sauce served over linguine
My wife ordered the Pollo Piccato – $16 – With salad instead of spaghetti.
Chicken breast sautéed with capers in a lemon butter white wine sauce served over spaghetti
Definitely give it a shot. It is small (maybe 60 seats) so plan ahead.
Huntersville, NC Friday night after soccer practice we decided to hit one of the coolest dining spots in the area, Vinyl Pi. Located in a small strip mall off 115, it is worth the effort to seek them out. Each booth in the restaurant is full of rock n roll memorabilia from record albums to concert posters. It is a walk down rock memory lane.
The menu is large, rock and roll themed, and has something for everyone. My youngest had the mac and cheese off the School of Rock menu, which he loved. My oldest had the Pendergrass, a cheese steak with cheese not wiz, which was great plus he had a side of mac and cheese. The adults had the Large Black Francis Pizza, PEPPERONI, BACON, SAUSAGE, MEATBALL, MOZZARELLA, MARINARA SAUCE BASE, which was awesome. Great crust, toppings and sauce. A first rate pie.
The Vinyl Pi offers a lot of live music, brunch and drink specials. Too much to cover. I cannot say enough good thing about their cool dining experience. There bar scene looked cool too, but we just did dinner.

Sunday Aug 6, 2017 We were looking to dine out in Davidson, but after realizing Concerts on the Green was in full swing, we decided to venture over to Huntersville. A real estate client had mentioned that they had an amazing meal at House of Taipei near exit 25. My local Asian favorites have always been Sabi in Davidson and Eez in Birkdale so I was intrigued to try something new.
When we arrived around 5:30, we were pleased to see a bunch of cars in the parking lot and when we entered the restaurant was half full. The service was spot on. We were shown to our table, given menus and immediately asked for drink orders.
The menu is varied with standard appetizers, main dishes and a section to customize your meal. We started with the Crab Rangoon, which was excellent and easily shared. I ordered the Taipei Delight $13.50 – Jumbo shrimp and chicken sauteed with red bell peppers, baby corn, & snow peas in a garlic sauce – excellent. Came with white rice and was a large portion. My youngest ordered Chicken Fried Rice $6.75 – he was very pleased. My older son ordered a build-your-own Traditional Chinese Dished Dual with Chicken and Shrimp and an Orange Sauce he selected off their list $11.50 – he thought it was great and plenty of food.
We left very impressed with the professional service, quality and selection of the food, and the size of the dining crowd on a Sunday night. So please try House of Tapei – it is hidden gem in plain sight in Huntersville.
