Davidson, NC. OK. I am guilty. Whenever I talk about Davidson I say how great it is to be in a college town because of the great cultural opportunities. But, I rarely take advantage. This time is different. I like all music, but Americana music is special. When I learned Sierra Hull was playing at Davidson College next April I went to youtube and checked her out. I know she was considered a virtuoso mandolin player at age 11. Now she is an accomplished touring artist in her 20s. Check out these youtube tracks.
Here is info on her performance:
Davidson, NC Davidson Elementary earned 10 out of 10 stars on Carolina School Hub. Congrats to that great school. We appreciate what these ratings do for our town and kids.
Davidson, NC. Davidson resident and UNC Chapel Hill Sophomore, Cassidy Goff, released a new alternative song written and produced with UNC classmate Robby Wingard. Cassidy was born and raised in Davidson, attending Cannon School in Concord and now studying Chinese at UNC. Music has always been a passion and she looks forward to returning to college to continue working on her music. One of her earlier songs, Carnivore, was featured on Morning Drive on WMVY radio on Martha’s Vineyard.
She is partnering with start-up record label, New Galaxy Records , also made up of college students aspiring to make an impact in the music industry. Enjoy with plenty of bass!
Sunday Aug 6, 2017 We were looking to dine out in Davidson, but after realizing Concerts on the Green was in full swing, we decided to venture over to Huntersville. A real estate client had mentioned that they had an amazing meal at House of Taipei near exit 25. My local Asian favorites have always been Sabi in Davidson and Eez in Birkdale so I was intrigued to try something new.
When we arrived around 5:30, we were pleased to see a bunch of cars in the parking lot and when we entered the restaurant was half full. The service was spot on. We were shown to our table, given menus and immediately asked for drink orders.
The menu is varied with standard appetizers, main dishes and a section to customize your meal. We started with the Crab Rangoon, which was excellent and easily shared. I ordered the Taipei Delight $13.50 – Jumbo shrimp and chicken sauteed with red bell peppers, baby corn, & snow peas in a garlic sauce – excellent. Came with white rice and was a large portion. My youngest ordered Chicken Fried Rice $6.75 – he was very pleased. My older son ordered a build-your-own Traditional Chinese Dished Dual with Chicken and Shrimp and an Orange Sauce he selected off their list $11.50 – he thought it was great and plenty of food.
We left very impressed with the professional service, quality and selection of the food, and the size of the dining crowd on a Sunday night. So please try House of Tapei – it is hidden gem in plain sight in Huntersville.
AboutDavidson.com does not get any compensation for reviews. This is a fun service! We like to eat out.

Davidson, NC The new Davidson Fire Station on Concord road will be delayed a month and a half after its upper roof was blown off during a heavy storm on July 8. Engineers needed to certify that the lower structure was still sound before work commenced again. The upper structure has been removed from the scene. Insurance will cover the damages.
Where’s Waldo? In Davidson, of course! The iconic children’s book character in the striped shirt and black-rimmed specs is visiting over 20 local businesses throughout our community this July. Find Waldo Local is a great summer vacation activity and a wonderful way to support local businesses and the Shop Local movement in our community, including these partners: The Jewel Box, The Soda Shop, Ben & Jerry’s, South Main Sweet Shop, The Needlecraft Center, and Whit’s.
Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up a “Find Waldo Local in Davidson!” passport, which contains the names of all the participating sites, and get their passport stamped or signed for each Waldo they spot. Collecting store stamps or signatures at twenty or more businesses will entitle diligent seekers entry into a prize drawing.
This year marks both Waldo’s and Main Street Books’ thirtieth anniversary, and to celebrate, Main Street Books will throw a joint birthday party on July 30th at 2 pm. The whole town is invited to join in birthday games, indulge in snacks and sweets, find a good book, and witness the reveal of the Find Waldo Local prize winners.
