Davidson, NC Small Business Saturday – November 27th 11am-1pm
Main Street Books will host Davidson Cookbook Author, Sheela Prakash, for a live book signing outside. If you go to The Farmer’s Market you may have seen Sheela as she is a regular shopper there. I purchased her cookbook and can attest that the recipes are great and easy to follow. Her drink recipes are also personal hits. This cookbook is an amazing gift for the holidays. If you can please come out and support Main Street Books and a local author. Thanks!

DFM’s prime market season is in full swing! With 36 vendors, the variety of foods and goods is vibrant as well as the operations of these local, small businesses. Its a sight to see and a testament to the fervor our surrounding area has for local, North Carolina products.
If you attended or missed last week’s market, I want to remind everyone about our temporary layout during construction on the new gathering space behind Summit Coffee. Here are a few things to know to make your shopping experience the fullest:
You can enter the market from multiple locations (there is not a designated entrance or exit to the market);
There are three rows of vendors: two in the Jackson Street parking lot and one in the grassy area next to Davidson Family Medicine;
You can access the third row from Jackson Street with our designated cut through and re-enter Jackson Street at the top near DFM’s shed and market tent;
If you’re looking for a specific vendor and can’t find them, you can ask one of our Green Team Volunteers (the folks in green shirts) or stop by DFM’s tent; and
Market hours are 9am – Noon.
Speaking of volunteers. It takes a lot of dedicated volunteers to help setup and takedown the farmers market every weekend. Their generous help is tremendous and Courtney and I are so grateful to work with such kind and fun people. If you would like to volunteer this Saturday or any weekend this year, you can sign up here or email Courtney directly to learn more about DFM’s Green Team.
See you all this Saturday, rain or shine!
Happy eating,
Justin

Those that came to the market on Saturday, March, 6 –– thank you! The market looked a little different with construction happening between DFM and Summit Coffee causing a little confusion how to access the market, especially after a year with a dedicated entrance and exit in response to the pandemic. Those that arrived on the 6th were so respectful of the changes and maintained social distancing making the market a great success for our vendors and fellow shoppers. Thank you, again!
With most of the area fenced off, we decided to open the market up to allow shoppers easier, and safer, access. If you’re new to DFM in the last year, this is how the market used to be before Covid, and we’ve been eager to return to that layout once the pandemic is over. As construction continues until May, we will keep the market without an entrance, exit, and barriers. We do ask that our shoppers wait until 9am to enter the space where vendors are. At 9am we ring the market bell, loudly, to alert shoppers and vendors that the market has opened and shopping can begin. We do the same thing at noon when the market is closed. We are still requiring shoppers, vendors, staff, and volunteers to wear masks while at the market and maintain social distancing.
There are two winter markets left, 3/20 and 3/27, before the market’s full season opening on Saturday, April 3. During our full season there will be 36 vendors and the market operating every Saturday –– but more info about that in our upcoming newsletters.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday for another beautiful market.
Happy eating,
Justin
