Run For Green is back October 2nd – Please support

Davidson, NC The Davidson Run For Green is back for its 16th year on October 2, 2021 supporting Davidson Lands Conservancy.

Come experience the Run For Green races!  Our course is in the beautiful small town of Davidson, North Carolina.  Be careful, though, it is so charming, you may just want to move!  This year we are back in person for our 16th Annual Running Event.  We could not be more excited to bring you the quality race that you have come to expect. Our course winds it’s way through lovely little neighborhoods with long stretches out in the woods on the greenway where you can take in the serenity of nature.  Expect to encounter a hill or two, this is not what we would call a flat course. But, we will do our best to keep you motivated the whole way as you enjoy your run and the spirit of competition!

For our virtual events, we are offering two options, RUN ANYWHERE with RaceJoy – This means you can run on your own anywhere to complete one of three distance choices.  You can run a 5k, a 10k, or a half marathon.  Or you can run the events without RaceJoy.  The beauty is that you can support the Davidson Lands Conservancy in their efforts to protect, explore, and support natural environments while running anywhere you want.

After you finish your run, you will easily be able to upload your results through RaceJoy or you can still do it the old fashioned way and send them to whitney@queencitytiming.com if you don’t want to use RaceJoy.

Follow this link to see why DLC’s Run For Green should be your next Runcation http://gardenandgun.com/article/small-town-escapes-davidson-nc. The charming town of Davidson offers up a relaxing weekend coupled with reaching your running goals. There are wonderful local places to stay including the Davidson Village Inn and other bed and breakfasts. You can carb up for your run at one of the many amazing restaurants from Flat Iron to Sabi Asian Bistro to dinner on the water at the  North Harbor Club, and many more.   After you finish your run, whether it is the 5K, 10K, or half marathon, you should bring your friends or family and take advantage of the wonderful shops and restaurants.  There are so many good places to see and restaurants to try that you’ll want to stay for the whole weekend!

Davidson, NC Real Estate Report – August 2020 – Hot!!

Davidson, NC       We are in crazy times as we adjust to Covid-19.  We are in crazier times when we realize how hot the Davidson real estate market is.  We are seeing multiple offers, new pricing highs, record low inventory and homes selling sight unseen.  Check out the charts below to see this illustrated graphically.

DavMonth

Anything less that 6 months supply indicates a seller’s market.  We are seeing multiple offers.  Sight unseen offers.  All indicate an excellent time to be a seller.

DavNewlistings

While this upper chart indicates a rise in New Listings, the truth is that there are only 68 homes for sale and 25 townhomes and condos for sale in Davidson today.  This is an historically low inventory.  Another indicator of a seller’s market.  See below.

DavHomes for Sale

DavPendingSales

Homes are selling fast in Davidson despite the pandemic.  We are seeing buyers from all over the country.

DavPPSft

This chart is a little misleading.  We are seeing records in the high end of the market while the average is being lowered with new construction in Westbranch, Kenmare and Davidson East.

DaysofMkt

Days on Market indicates how quickly homes are selling.

Showingtime

We can see in North Carolina showings are back to levels we saw last year following a significant drop in March and April due to Covid-19.

Conclusion:  Now is a great time to sell if you are thinking about listing your home.  We are following strict protocols when showing homes; online viewings, requiring masks, requiring disinfectants, shoes removed.

Davidson Farmers Market Seeks Community Support – Help if you can!

Davidson, NC    Here is an email from Market Manager Justin seeking donations to keep the market viable for the future of our great community.

In 2008, the Davidson Farmers Market (DFM) started with the mission to connect shoppers to local farmers, purveyors, and artisans to access fresh local foods and goods made within a 100 mile radius of Davidson, NC. For over a decade, DFM has grown from a dozen vendors to over 40 small businesses providing a variety of fresh produce, proteins, dairy, breads and baked goods, prepared foods, and health and wellness products. Our loyal shoppers have increased over time, and we now serve over 600 shoppers a week.  The market community represents the beauty and inclusion that make Davidson distinctive, and shoppers and vendors have kept the market going all these years.

But nobody could have predicted the challenges DFM and our community would face this year, and now we need your help to continue the market’s work and to keep Davidson’s community strong, safe, and healthy.

When DFM shut down in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors committed to the safety of vendors, shoppers, and the community, while at the same time keeping our shoppers fed and our vendors in business. We have offered online shopping and off-site pick-up locations as a temporary solution; we’ve also been meeting weekly to plan how DFM will reopen, operate, and continue to expand its mission.

The first thing DFM did was waive all vendor fees for the 2020 season, to give every vendor financial relief and the ability to continue participating at the market. The second decision, to not solicit sponsorship support from small businesses as in years past, came from the same commitment to reduce the financial burden of those hard hit by mandated closures. These two decisions will impact DFM’s operating budget and ability to expand programming, but they come from DFM’s core mission and values. Without our vendors, there is no market.  Without our Main Street businesses, there is no Davidson. We are a community, above everything else.

DFM has a new plan and has added to our mission. We will continue to provide a safe, healthy space for shoppers to access fresh local produce and support small local businesses.

This summer we will reopen with:

  • New shopping opportunities including pre-order pick-up;
  • Three new vendors;
  • Increased programming to allow EVERYONE access to food; and
  • A system and layout that keeps everyone safe.

This plan requires DFM to pay for:

  • New equipment including tents, tables, and hand sanitizer stations;
  • Signage and barriers;
  • Vendor masks and cleaning products, including shopper amenities; and
  • Additional staff.
We need the help of our community and loyal shoppers to make this happen. We are asking that you help by making a donation of $10 to save our 40 vendors and keep DFM continuing for another 12 years.

Your $10 will keep 40 small businesses operating at the Davidson Farmers Market, continue shoppers’ access to fresh local foods and goods, and strengthen DFM’s operations to ensure our community is thriving and healthy every Saturday for years to come.

Generous community members who give $100 or more will be recognized as Market Sustainers in upcoming DFM newsletters.

Help us TODAY so we can be back together again listening to the talents of Dylan Underwood on the Stage for Stephen, sipping our morning brew from Summit Coffee, eating Bleu Barn Bistro breakfast burritos, and sharing the beautiful produce and goods we bought. Give $10 to save 40 and let’s get back to our Saturday morning tradition and community.

Happy eating,
Justin
